I “best of” della stagione conclusa generalmente si consegnano nel mese di dicembre, il Sudafrica però li ha piazzati a metà febbraio, a poche ore dall’inizio del Super Rugby 2014 che dà il via alla stagione dell’emisfero sud. Ieri sera si sono tenute le premiazioni al Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City di Johannesburg: Jean de Villiers ha vinto il premio come South African Player of the Year mentre Eben Etzebeth si è imposto come Young Player of the Year.
De Villiers era stato già insignito del titolo nel 2008 ed è il sesto giocatore a vincere l’ambito riconoscimento più di una volta.
